Two years. One search page.
Completely different product.

When I took over Core UX in 2024, Bing's search page was a collection of inherited decisions -- inconsistent corner radii, misaligned tokens, a header that hadn't been designed for AI, no coherent layout system holding the page together. Each answer type had its own rules. There was no magazine system, no wide answer framework, no MAI Design System activation. It looked like what it was: a product that had been added to, not designed.

By end of 2025, every major system on the page had been redesigned. The header shipped with +$50M ARR impact. The Magazine system brought layout coherence to the whole page. MAI token alignment replaced fragmented visual decisions with a single design language. Corner radii, type, color, spacing -- all resolved and consistent. The Stone Color system and 24px corner radius are now the foundation every answer type builds on.

MY ROLE
Design Manager for Core UX. Owned whole-page architecture, MAI Design System activation, Magazine system, header redesign, token alignment, and layout framework across all SERP surfaces.

IMPACT
+$50M ARR from header redesign alone

AI in Bing

Bringing Copilot's search composer into Bing SERP.

Bing users were converting to Copilot Search at 30-50% -- strong signal that the AI-native experience was resonating. But engagement and retention on SERP were dropping. The composer we were testing as a replacement to the docked header was pulling people out of the page rather than keeping them in it.

The design challenge wasn't just shipping a new component. It was figuring out how to bring Copilot's follow-on experience into SERP without blocking content, disrupting the page architecture, or fragmenting the experience across surfaces. I led the Core UX design side, working cross-functionally with GenUI, engineering, and PM partners to iterate on a collapsed model that could expand on interaction -- keeping the composer present without it taking over.

Design Manager for Core UX. Partnered cross-functionally across disciplines.

A prototype that changed the product direction.

It started with a question from a teammate in the final week of a cycle:

"If we're already activating token and component convergence, why can't Bing's content seamlessly blend into Copilot?" That question led to a short prototype that is has changed product strategy for the better.

My goal was to blur the line between traditional search and conversational UI entirely.

Stakeholder feedback was positive and receptive. The ask was to go deeper. The team built out full suites of comps showing seamless content integration across product lines, culminating in a sizzle reel that presented a bold unified future. That vision is now actively being flighted as product strategy.
